Last weekend, I painted my great-grandmother’s wedding ring with colour pencils! I’m really proud of how it turned out. It took a long time (about four hours total), but I got to try some really cool techniques with colour pencils:
Originally, I planned to do a stroke-layering technique (where you can see individual strokes of colour that isn’t blended but it blends when it’s seen from afar) but I figured that a smooth shading/layering technique would suit the ring better.
I also tried using orange to make the blue duller (since they’re complimentary) instead of using black. Although the colours could use a little more improvement to look more like the real ring, I’m happy with how it turned out.
