lifestyle || join our ongoing 30 days of movement challenge in December 2021!

On December 2nd, we kicked off a new DAILY challenge in our Vibely virtual community for us to complete together this month!

I’ve been working through the EPIC 3 series by @carolinegirvan since the start of September, and much like when I did NaNoWrimo (a challenge to write a book in a month), I found imagining thousands of other people around the world waking up a little earlier each day just like you to make progress towards a shared goal to be unbelievably fun.

I haven’t quite figured out the reason for it, but I think it’s partly because of the reminder that you don’t need anything special – motivation, inspiration, perfect environment – to make those tiny steps. Just a bit of determination to show up! Plus, seeing someone else do things makes you feel like you can, too!

december 1st journal entry

I mentioned in my last post that I’ve felt drained as the school semester comes to a close, but today I did my first workout in a week. My plan for the rest of the month is to work through the holiday series that @carolinegirvan will be uploading for the next 24 days, as they’re a more manageable 20-30 min, and intersperse the remaining 14 EPIC 3 full-length workouts I have left. I’m anticipating a few days off for lighter movement/recovery, so that makes 30 days.

my mindset towards rest days

My mindset if I choose to skip a day is to replace it with a different activity (walk!) or rest (sleep!), and pick up where I left off the next day.

Since our challenge is for a fixed period, count the rest days as part of the 30 days, since they’re just as important as the high-intensity days!

When we’re done, you can keep working through the workouts you have left in order at your own pace. (But that’s just my approach!)

Cardio calls for something refreshing and hydrating! This salad was delicious.
