video || why I cut down on coffee & how caffeine affects productivity

A month ago, my 6-cup aluminum moka pot temporarily went out of commission after losing an oxidation battle with the dishwasher. What followed was a week of cold-turkey ending my habitual caffeine intake, and a period of severe headaches, fatigue and unhappiness. I was experiencing Caffeine Withdrawal! This got me thinking about the effects of… Continue reading video || why I cut down on coffee & how caffeine affects productivity

video || the fine line between self-improvement and complacency

I'm all about constant self-reflection and self-improvement, but the number one thing to remember when setting goals - productivity, health, fitness, habits - is to appreciate that your current position IS A PART OF THE PROCESS. Don't use guilt to motivate yourself. It's not a long-term solution for change. And it's particularly dangerous when your… Continue reading video || the fine line between self-improvement and complacency

lifestyle || some of my favourite food recipes during lockdown

Earlier this year, I stumbled upon a golden video while watching YouTube with the (or so I convinced myself) non-mindless goal of learning more about cooking and the culinary arts. It was a 42 minute video titled, "How to Chop Every Vegetable". As is usually the case when you watch someone else go at their… Continue reading lifestyle || some of my favourite food recipes during lockdown

lifestyle || my morning routine when social distancing

On Friday, March 13, my university announced that classes would be suspended for one week, to start again remotely afterwards. I had already begun to pack my bag, so that day I loaded everything into the car and drove home. I don't visit home very often - maybe once every month or every couple months.… Continue reading lifestyle || my morning routine when social distancing

lifestyle || grocery tips + shopping list PRINTABLE

As I spoke about in my latest video, "top tips for moving in and living alone", grocery shopping and cooking is one of the big challenges that you will encounter if you're moving out of your parents' house for the first time. In preparation for the new school year and many people taking this big… Continue reading lifestyle || grocery tips + shopping list PRINTABLE

lifestyle || reasons i eat meat: a wine-tasting changed my mind about veganism

At the start of 2018, I decided to try being pescetarian for ethical reasons. It seemed that there were so many reasons for it and no reason in the world not to. Plus, the "lifestyle" side of my social media was saturated with messages about veganism and vegetarianism that I felt compelled to give it a try. After all, why eat meat when we really don't NEED it?
Then, after taking part in a wine tasting while on vacation, I finally reached a few conclusions.

writing || Hello 18: At War with Myself

Today I am 18, and as I step into a symbolic new era in my life, I can't help but be immensely, incredibly, completely grateful. For my parents, my friends, my body, my health, music, art, everything. I've found myself looking back at old pictures a lot lately. And aside from noticing (and grumbling about)… Continue reading writing || Hello 18: At War with Myself
